The Challenge

The upper floors of the building had a knee wall that looked like glass from the outside. However, there was only a short vision panel for exterior viewing and to allow daylight inside the building. Our client, PCL Construction, asked Brin Contract Glazing to assist in reconstruction of the glass curtain wall to enhance visibility from both inside and outside of the building.

Our Solution

Brin Contact Glazing collaborated with the contractor and the design team to ensure the success of the project. The project started with removing the existing glass from the 2nd through 9th floors. Typically, this type of project would take 2-3 weeks to get the window opening sealed back up, during which time the floors would be exposed to the elements. By utilizing a crane to get all the glass installed quickly, Brin was able to enclose the opening within a few days, which protected the floors from weather-related damage.

Results Accomplished

Brin Contract Glazing replaced a large section of the façade from the 2nd through the 9th floors and installed a glass curtain wall that was visible all the way through on all 9 floors. In one day, Brin was able to install 53 pieces of insulated glass and create a glass enclosure that allows daylight into the building for the workers.
